Finally broke the P words of this item ......it got to where I couldn't say it right :) But I can say COOKIES
Pumpkin Pie to Pecan Pumpkin Pinwheels and now continues on to become a COOKIE ! Here's what happened.... I didn't like how some of the pinwheels turned out (consistent perfection in selling goods is priority : ) :) :) So, I cut them and dropped into the VMixer and chopped into small pieces. I took the pinwheels with the fruit leathers and did the same. Now I have 2 different bowls with nutrition still waiting to be eaten.........now what can I dooooo with all that Raw Food Goodness......One fantastic thing about dehydrated food; it is preserved, holds flavor, and can be broken down (thank you VM) even to a flour to be used to make something else; thus the new item has with it all the nutrition from :) you guessed it... Pecan Pumpkin Pinwheels :)
I kept in mind to make something that would be great as snacks for home and holiday gatherings (Ebay). I already had a flavorful base; and didn't want to add to much more flavor. Dehydrated foods condense flavors, thus every time something new is moistened in the mouth a new flavor appears. (The key to combining is to have them all blend well; almost like a meal was just eaten :) hmmmm feeding all body systems .....Happy Cells cause..... Poof ! hunger gone... Poof ! drag or tired gone..
Anyway............I choose Cookies.
Thank goodness I have extra large bowls (only 4), I always overdo.
I had to create moisture to bind up the dehydrated pieces so I started with the pinwheels with pecan butter and chopped pecan centers.
I vm vs# 8 one pineapple added to empty lg. bowl; then, took the seeds from a cantaloupe with 1/4 of the cantaloupe and vm HIGH speed 90 seconds or so, to release seed nutrients, stop machine and added the cantaloupe vm vs#2, and added to the bowl. Now I had ALOT of liquid. I added some pinwheel mixture trying to thicken and no, that wasn't going to happen. So I scooped 2 cups of it and put in a vm container. I added raw honey and sorghum syrup and blended. No that didn't work. So I took again some liquid and this time I added 1 cup flax seeds and added more raw honey and royal jelly AWESOME NUTRITION; processed on High 90 seconds or so...it gets thick. I forgot Flax is great to bind stuff and AWESOME NUTRITION as well. Stirred it in and it all blended great so I spooned onto dehydrator sheets. That batch made 13 sheets at 16 cookies each =ing 208 cookies. I still have dehydrated pieces left too. hmmm what to do what to do :) I set it aside.
Now this is a wonderful treat for all. Offer your family, friends, guest...some Whole Raw Food Goodness. Even these tasty treats will quickly feed the body and bring to a satisfying state. Enjoy...Look for them on Ebay come November. Search Vegetarian, Vegan, Protein Snacks and I'll be posting under gift baskets. Spread the Word :)
Now the second batch, had the fruit leathers in the mixture; so I wanted to keep it a fruity cookie.
So, I sliced apples around the core and took the cores and water added to vm container and ran on high to breakdown seeds; I then added apples and vm vs#8 and added to empty lg. bowl. I also added one pineapple processed vm vs#7. I took a large bag of fresh cranberries (Costco) and broke down vm vs# 4-6. added to the bowl. PRETTY .... BEA U TEE FUL.
I added pinwheel mixture and then; added in vm container 3 cups water ( I always use distilled) 1 cup flax seed, raw honey, sorghum syrup and processed on HIGH. added to bowl and blended...nice and pretty ...Aw...They are going to have to sit in fridge....other cookies are in dehydrators right now. I'll post picture later.
Here is the cookie with cranberries. It starts out pretty redish to dehydrated brown :(
These cookies will be a soft dehydrated food. Not all dehydrated foods have to be bone dry. The natural oils in nuts are also a natural preservative; so don't worry if the wrapper gets oily. Oils however are not the best preservative as they themselves will eventually turn rancid. So keep in airtight container in a dark dry area. Dehydrated foods however can be frozen :) I freeze my veggie patties until I am ready to use them.
